Here is a great illustration of differences in PHil PHilosophy on how to
choose a trek.

Weighing strongly in my balance would be that there are other breathtaking
scenic views all around the country/world, but the opportunity for packing
burros & other program features is what makes PHilmont - PHILMONT and not
just a backpacking experience.

#1 in the itinerary choice priorities tho (and I'll bet Coop agrees here
too) is the youth members of the crew should choose from their options.
For those who haven't chosen treks yet, my encouragement to advisors is to
outline the advantages/disadvantages that you see, sit down, shut up & let
the youth make their decision & then the advisors do everything in their
power to support the choice.
