Be sure your in-camp shoes have good solid soles. My
experience with water shoes is that they are often soft
soled. You will occasionally do mini-side hikes in your
camp shoes - to the water source, latrine, to the staff
cabin area, etc. You may even need to temporarily
substitute your camp shoes for hiking the trail for a short
period if your hiking boots are giving you problems. The
ground & trails are often very rocky and can hurt the
bottoms of your feet with a too-soft soled shoe.
I had a co-advisor once who hiked from Ewells Park to
Miranda (no pack) to do program in his camp shoes - old
fashioned type sneakers. The trail is all rock. He sorely
regretted it for several days.
I believe Cooper Wright's Advisors Guide has a paragraph on
this topic that is quite useful.
