Having a couple of crew shirts per person will help build team spirit for the crew.

We were able to catch a great sale on some Coolmax shirts from Campmor.com last spring...about $10 for short sleeve and $12 for long.  We then designed our own slogan and added it to the Philmont arrowhead graphic.  Setup and silkscreening locally gave us a customized shirt for about the price of the stock cotton shirts from ToTT.  You've got a couple of months, so start watching all of the outdoor outlet stores (like Campmor and REI-outlet and ???)  You may be able to find a deal!

One further point...encourage the boys to wash the shirts occasionally ...we saw a few crews on the trail who looked like they had never removed their shirts for 12 days...they sure didn't look very proud.   (you can wash a couple shirts, some underwear and several pairs of socks at the sump  in a quarter liter of water with 2 or 3 drops of campsuds and then another half liter to rinse.  Just please don't do your laundry in the sinks at staffed camps with the water left running!)

Our screws ordered the Coolmax T shirts from Tooth of Time Traders at Philmont, and then added our logo to the back.  Coolmax is a great material for trail time.  It keeps you cool and comfortable, and does not show dirt as much as cotton for some reason.  I carried three coolmax Tshirts on the trail during my trek.  Many people in base camp like to trade these items in base camp.  After our trek, we met with some Nippon Scouts from Japan.  I am 6'2" and 250 pounds, the advisor from Japan was 5' tall.  I ended up with a man's small Tshirt with fabulous artwork on it.  He ended up with an extra large mans T Shirt with a Texas flag desin on the back.

I hadn't realized we need crew T-shirts. Are these for on the trail, at
base camp or traveling? We were thinking of getting some polo shirts
with custom embroidery for travel. The Cool-Max with design on the
sleeve sounds like a great idea for the trail.
