Re: [Philmont]: Extra Adults

Our process for adult participation in our treks is two fold.
1. Participation is based on when adults make their deposit to the
troop for the trek. In the past I have found those adults who sign up
first are always the ones who get in shape, arrange their work
schedule, and make their payments.
2. We also require 80% participation on our 5 pretrek hikes on the
Appalachian Trail here in Georgia. Believe it or not the grades are
actual steeper here than at Philmont. I have always found that if an
adult can do our pretrek hikes they can do Philmont. Their only
adjustment is really to the elevation difference.

Sidenote: All of our participates signed an agreement form this last
January and are presently making monthly payments for Philmont.
Our crews will be paid in full by December for our June 2004
Philmont treks.

The other thing is that we crew members are paid in full they
normally do not drop out.
