The Philmont logistics staff will work with you on the specifics; they are
pretty helpful. You can still do just about the same as a normal length trek
except that your customized trek won't have a number. We had an 8-day trek
last year and it was great. We basically did trek 6, if I recall correctly
(a South Country loop) in shorter time; our guys were pretty good hikers.
In short, tell 'em what you'd like to do and the staff will work with you to
come as close as they can to your wants.
