[Philmont]: side trips

Thanks to all for your good info. We are going to Philmont on July 1st. 03 and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions and experience of thing to do in Taos (whitewater rafting, rockclimbing, biking). We want to go to this area to try to get better accustom to the altitude. We would like to know of some good outfitters.
