Just one point on ALPS - go to their scoutdirect.com website for the real
deep discounts for scout stuff, not always an obvious link from the main web
page. Fill out their info, and the discounts even go deeper. Good middle
of the road stuff, not top of the line, but not bottom either, but great
prices for scouts. THen they have even better deals for salesman closeouts.

  I have purchased tents and sleeping bags from a company called ALPS
Mountaineering. Very good quality, good people to work with too. Plus they
give a nice discounts to scouts. Check out their WEB site at

  I bought two bags that I my son and I took to Philmont in 2001. They still
look like new, plus they come with a compression sack.
