The Philmont bus will be waiting no matter when you arrive. They will
then take you to a place to get something to eat. (about 30 min stop)
Then they will take you to Philmont. This will get you to Philmont
????? as the train schedule is unreliable. We have done this many times
now and you will have plenty of time to get with your ranger and process
in. You will not be out early on day 1 but that does not matter to much
as you only have a few miles to your first camp.
Our scouts love taking the train and continue to request it as the
method of going to Philmont.

Hi All,
My troop will be taking the train from Kansas City to Raton this
summer. According to information from Philmont we can signup to
have their bus take us the rest of the way to Philmont for a
modest fee.
My concern is that Philmont, ideally, would like us to arrive at
Philmont on the morning of our scheduled day. The train is
scheduled to arrive at 11:00am, yet train schedules are
notoriously unreliable. Will Philmont's bus wait for us if the
train is late? How bad is it to get to Philmont in the afternoon
instead of morning? Surely Philmont deals with this all the
time, particularly since they list the train as one method of
traveling.
Has anyone done this who might comment?
