Don't know about Raton but we always stop at the Koshare kiva in La junta I think it costs 2.00 dollars per scout. The Kiva is a great Native American Museum that is also home to the scout troop who use Native American dancing for program. If your lucky they will be putting on a show for you the nite that you stay. They have a newly remodeled shower room and you can use the gym at the Otero Native American college that's across the street ( basketball, pool, etc.) Also you can eat breakfast at the college cafeteria again across the street from the Kiva. Be sure to visit their Eagle room of honor where they have over 500 Eagle scouts they honor. It's about 1 to 2 hours from the Ranch. They have a web site at www.koshare.org.

Subject: [Philmont]: Places to stay near Raton?

Troop 322 of Greenville TX is taking a crew to Philmont in June. We plan
to leave a day early to spend time getting acclimated to the
  altitude.

Does anyone have suggestions for an inexpensive place to stay in or near
  Raton?

  Thanks!
