Let Philmont know WAY ahead of time if you PLAN to arrive early. Keep in
mind that there ARE additional costs involved............the BUS from Raton
was about $20 per person, there IS a fee for the extra night IF you use your
own tents in no man's land (includes the extra breakfast), there IS an
additonal fee IF you use Philmont Platform tents in the trail bound section.
WE got that surprise doing our final registration meeting. I didn't think
to ask at the Welcome center IF we would be charged for using the Philmont
platform tents when they had some open. We got socked with a 3rd fee for
using the trail bound tents an extra night.........not that big of a deal,
just unexpected. I was able to collect the money from the boys and advisors
before we hit the trail.
DON'T count on Philmont taking you in..........SEND in the Early arrival
card!!! BE sure to get the confirmation.
It helps them to LIKE your crew even more when you don't make
waves................
