Re: [Philmont]: vacuum bags

This last year several of my crew members have started showing
me vacuum plastic bags that are being sold at stores like
Coleman, etc. We have always recommended in the past our crew
members use plastic freezer bags ( normally the 2 gal size) to
waterproof clothing items inside their packs. I have recently found
some of these bags at Bed & Bath stores for less than $15 and
there are four bags in the box ( two different sizes).
I am impressed with how these bags work. Put clothing in the bag,
then zip the bag, and then roll it and when you roll the bag the air
is forced out of the bag. This reduces volume in the pack and
waterproofs your clothing. The problem I always found with the
freezer bags is the process of getting the air out of the bags to
reduce volume.

Has anybody else on the list had any experiences with this
product?
