[Philmont]: Best deal on renting 15-passenger van in Col. S...

Reason why vans have disappeared is the NTSB condemned them 2 years ago. Indiana University panicked and sold one for $3000, and they had not picked it up from the dealer yet. So they are scarce.

Just an untried Idea contact the local colleges in C springs and Denver and see if you can rent them. They all have them, and probably not using them in the Summer.

  We could not find a 15-passenger van in Colo Springs or Denver last summer.

  Also, I discovered my insurance did not cover me driving a 15-passenger van. Adding cost of rental company insurance to a rental of any sort pushed the budget beyond reasonable.

  We charted a school bus at $34/hour and it worked well for our crew of 11. Lots of space.
