Although low and mid heights seem to be the perferred choice among
manufacturers these days, you can still find them higher. As a previous post
suggests, I think Backpacker Mag's Gear Guide (March 2004?) is the best
place to start. There are tons of boots on the market and I think you should be
able to find exactly what you are looking for. I do know that La Sportiva has
several styles that are high. I prefer their "glacier" model, which is a bit
overkill for Philmont, but it can handle heavy loads and off-trail applications
with ease.
