Having just spent a week at Philmont attending Kanik with members of our
troop and crew, I thought of this opportunity to spend a week at Philmont
that some of you may want to consider if you haven't attended Wood Badge
or know a Scouter who hasn't attended Wood Badge.

As far as I know, the Circle Ten Council in Dallas is the only BSA
council which offers an annual week long Wood Badge Course at Philmont.
Their 2004 Philmont Course will be held during the week of August 23-28.
General information about Wood Badge training, including the prerequisites
to attend Wood Badge, is available here:
http://www.circle10.org/training/woodbadge.cfm

Specific information about the Circle Ten Philmont Wood Badge Course is
available here: http://www.circle10.org/training/wb71/wb71.htm

My wife, Linda, and I were able to participate in a Philmont Wood Badge
Course in 1998 sponsored by the Longs Peak Council in Colorado. Just
being at Philmont for a week is always special, and we consider Wood Badge
training to be a highlight of our 25+ years as Scouting leaders.
