Some of the shovels were still there in Oct. 2002 as we made Zastrow our
base camp during Autumn Adventure that year. We couldn't get in
Gillwell Hall but we could see several shovels through the window.
I spent an hour or so in the Seton Museum last Friday morning while most
of the other members of our Kanik crew toured the Villa. I knew there
was something I wanted to ask the Museum Director but I couldn't
remember what it was. As in .... Where is the Wood Badge stuff from
Zastrow? But I did find a nice anniversary present for my wife and
viewed a display of Seton's art that I hadn't seen before so it wasn't a
wasted hour.
The Seton Museum has a very informative display on the 2002 fires which
I recommend to crews attending Philmont this summer.
BTW, the ice cream at the Cimarron Art Gallery is still great. I had a
strawberry cone which really hit the spot after eating GORP and other
Kanik food items for several days.
