The theory is that a bear will walk around a 2 person tent but might try
to step over a one man tent. If it misses and steps on you, you'll
move. If you move, you may be lunch.

On page 8 of the "2004 Philmont Guidebook to Adventure," it reads: "If
you
bring your own tent, it must be a 2-person tent. Philmont will allow a
single person tent in the event of an odd numbered crew." Two years
ago,
most of the adults on our Troop's 2 crews were in single person tents,
because of their preference.
Did we do that wrong then? Do I misunderstand the requirement. Does
the
requirement only apply to Scouts and not to Scouters? Can anyone help
explain? Thanks.
