RE: [Philmont]: Number of times to Philmont

A very common question:

There is not restriction on an individual Scout participation in Philmont programs by Philmont.  If the Scout can find a open slot he can go as often as he/she wishes.

A parent or Scout willing to absorb the cost.

A willingness on the Scout and parents part to participate with crews they may not know personally.

His participation has been heavily encouraged by his parents to meet and greet people.   Summer '02 was a trek, cavalcade, and Rayado in succession.  He was on the ranch from June 21 to August 4.   He came back a much more open and mature young man.

Philmont offers many programs beyond the treks and housing for short periods can be accomplished between events by working with the program staff at Philmont.

>As an advisor I didn't pick it. My crew leader, 3 treks, a cavalcade, and Rayado under his belt worked with the crew to pick the trek base upon the areas the other experienced (2) trekkers had been, the activities, and this advisor's request to repeat Baldy again after 32 years if possible.
