Get whatever is light and comfortable. They are primarily to give your
feet a break after a long day in boots, and to give the campsites a
break from Vibram lugs. I use "marathon flats" sneakers - about 12 - 14
ounces per pair.

I believe boots are required for horseback rides. Having had a horse or
two "test" the quality of my boots by stepping on them, I assure you
that you'd best not be wearing anything too light in the corrals.

No dirty clothes in your tent at night. Most (including shoes) have
some food odors on them. I just use a camp pillow, available at any
camping store - cheap and light. Airline pillows are also good, and
some airlines will let you keep the one they give you on the flight (ask!)
