I thought about the aqua shoes, but ended up taking a pair of
walking/hiking/tennis shoes when I went. They did take up more space but,
as was pointed out to me, would serve as backup in the event my hiking boots
failed. I also felt more comfortable in some of the campsites when it was
dark (returning from campfire at Crater Lake being the first example that
comes to mind.)

Adding to this question, what about aqua shoes such as worn by kayaker.
They're more durable than regular water shoes, but would they be practical?
