PhilCrew 615-K-4 received our trek confirmation Friday, March 26.
Troop 764 in Atlanta, Georgia, got our book on Tuesday, March 23, and mailed
our card at 1:25pm that same day (paid for overnight delivery). Our card was
delivered to Philmont on Thursday, March 25.
We were assigned Trek 24 - our first choice. Because we didn't mail our
selection card until the 23rd, I expected to be disappointed when I opened
the e-mail. While there certainly are no bad treks at Philmont, I have had
my eye on 24 for some time. I was glad the Scouts selected it as their top
choice. Our other choices were 32, 21, 28, and 14.
IMHO I think 24, 30, and 32 are the best of the best.
In 2002 we selected #29, but had a fire modified trek, which bore no
resemblance to the original trek. We had a great time and everyone said it
was better than what we had selected. All of this good trek/bad trek stuff
is really an adult thing. The Scouts are very resilient and can adapt to
anything. Because they have no preconceptions it all looks and feels good to
them.
If the adult leaders have an upbeat attitude so will the Scouts.
Going back to God's Country in 2004!

Subject: trek confirmation
Picked up the trek book from the Scout office on Monday. Mailed it
Tuesday noon USPS (Express). Got a confirmation e:mail Thursday night.
Trek #24. Our first choice. The boys wanted Baldy, hike in over the
tooth, guns, rock climbing and horses. I better pick up my exercise
regimen.
