Art,
As noted previously there is no leniency for adults.
They are very concerned with potential for major problems with adults.
The letter that accompanied the physicals told how many people were sent
back last year.
Lose the weight, don't play games with it.
We did have an advisor in 2002 who was on weight when we left NJ and after
Flying W
and an all you can eat buffet in Colo Springs was over a pound or two when
we arrived.
They did let him on the trail
Youth -
There is no minimum.
That minimum weight is just a guideline
But if they see light weight participants,
they will weigh packs and gear will have to be shifted so that no one is
overloaded
Youth maximum is slightly flexible
Philmont uses good judgment
On my first trek I had a 5 foot 6 inch interior linemen from the local HS
football team
He was over the weight guideline but was obviously in shape
He was bulking up for season.
His shoulders were very wide not his waist
They let him go
