One of the aspects of Philmont I enjoy most is getting away from reality
and not hearing a phone ring or hearing much news from the outside world.
One of our more annoying Philmont experiences took place last summer when
the teenage girl in the next tent was talking to her boyfriend on her cell
phone at midnight.
BTW, wireless Internet connections don't work at Philmont. And neither do
those annoying Nextel cell phone/walkie talkies. If they ever do, I hope
someone will introduce them to the bottom of a backcountry latrine. The
"splat" sound would be excellent music!
