the equation. Most years, the carrying capacity of the ranch is pushed
pretty hard with the 20-odd thousand of participants that do get to go.
Doubling the number of participants only worsens the situation. In
years like 2002 when water was almost rationed - no showers in the
backcountry etc. - it could be a serious problem. Then there is the
impact on the flora and fauna.
No thanks, I'll continue to take my chances on the "few" slots that are
available. If I want crowds, there are plenty of places closer to home
where I can go.
