Good evening.
I have a history question of sorts tonight. I recently acquired a pamphlet,
"Philmont Trails: Philmont Scout Ranch and Explorer Base." I believe this
pamphlet is from 1978.
The pamphlet has 43 maps divided into Northern Trails, Central Trails, and
Southern Trails. Each map shows one or more hikes. For example, map 15 is
"Baldy Mountain Side Hikes." Each map also has a narrative describing things
to look for on the hike. Map 15 describes 3 ways to climb Baldy: from Copper
Park, from Baldy Town, and from Miranda. It also describes what you will see
on top.
The pamphlet, 93 pages, describes a great deal about things to look for on
the trail.
Do they still sell such a pamphlet? If so, what is it called? If not, when
and why did they stop?
Thanks!
