We finished up our trek last summer with North Fork Urraca to Base Camp via
the Tooth. I started out that morning with 8 liters of water -- 6 in an MSR
bag with hyration tube attachment plus 2 nalgenes. Reached Base Camp with
about 1/3 liter to spare. Definitely make sure everyone's packing as much
water as they can hold. It's dry and hot from the Tooth on in.

Personal preference,
I don't care for North Fork Urraca campground, it is kind of like camping in
a hole. (narrow canyon with no view). Small, crowded too. Next time (???)
I would rather camp on Shafer's pass or the Tooth Ridge campsite. OR
Ponderosa Park sounds nice too. Getting to North Fork Urraca is a trail in
a narrow canyon that crosses a small stream 50 or more times, I've forgotten
the number. Pretty, but No view.
WE left also left at 4:30 am, Our scouts wanted to make to town for pizza.
had a nice stop at Tooth of Time, REMEMBER, to check when equipment turn in
areas in base camp will be closed for lunch. WE hit it just right, cleaned
and turned in equipment, and did make it in to town to get pizza.
REALLY believe what someone else said about conserving water. We had a
couple scouts who ran out on the switchbacks going down to base camp.
PHILMONT was very clever putting in that trail, it is completely hidden from
base camp...........................
