The stream crossing numbers were not exaggerated by but maybe a few. Trek #5 in 04 had two such trails. 1 from Black Mountain to Beaubien, and 1 from Phillips to Cito. The boys counted 43 times from Black Mountain, and lost count after 30-some from Mt. Phillips. The water was flowing pretty good since we had rain virtually every day but our last. If you were to cross walking across the bed of the stream, it might have come up to your knees at some crossings. However, most of our crossings either had trees or logs to cross, or rocks, or was narrow enough to leap across.

Subject: [Philmont]: Stream crossings
To the Philmont vets once again.... (there will be more) :-)
A couple of you mentioned a trek that involved several stream crossings.
Two mentioned crossing the stream(s) 50 to 75 times. Assuming those numbers
are slightly exaggerated, there are still probably quite a few crossings to
deal with on that trek.
Besides the obvious method of trudging straight through, what precautions or
techniques did you have to use in order to cross these streams? Were they
ankle deep? Knee deep? Waist deep?
Thanks in advance....
