I agree that the sectional maps are the best to use on the trail. Having
said that, as someone else here said, you will need the overall map when you
arrive in base camp to go through logistics.

I would suggest purchasing the better sectional maps from the Tooth of Time
Traders for logistics and for use in the backcountry. The overall map,
while nice to look at, is a poor substitute for the sectionals for actual
use in the field. I can say this with some gusto, since when attending
Philmont as a Scout, the only map available at the time was the overall map.
