> 1. How far is it from Tooth Ridge camp back to Clark's Fork to get water?
Too far...it's a 5-6 hour roundtrip hike - minimum. If you're staying at Tooth Ridge Camp, bring all the water you can with you because there is no water source anywhere nearby.

> so-so?
All of the crews I know that have done it have loved it and it is one of the more popular programs at Philmont. It really is a blast and the staff at Harlan generally does a great job.

For "city slickers," it might be more fun than those who get a chance to ride horses frequently. It's a basic trail ride, pretty much nose-to-butt the whole way. It is a pretty neat experience for most folks though. Horse rides are offered at 8am and 1pm - take the morning time slot if you can as those rides are generally better (the afternoon rides are often affected by the chance of thunderstorms).
