Re: [Philmont]: A few questions (burro racing)

In 2003 my son was leading the burro race when he was
tripped by his burro. He went sprawling into the path
of the on-coming racers, and was run-over by four
burros.

Needless to say, the Advisors were in a panic. One
went for the first-aid kit when the second burro
passed over him, the other was sprinting to his aid;
both had their hearts in their throats.

My son sat up, howling with laughter, and said, "That
was GREAT! Can I do it again?" Not a mark on him.

This year he demanded to go again, and promised that
he and the burro will cross the finish line in first
place. According to him, it was one of his three
highlights at Philmont. It has also created a bond
between him and the poor advisors who were certain
that they had lost a scout.

Anything that a boy does that makes this kind of
lasting impression is worth attempting.
