Chas Clifton:
There are plenty of Libraries, friends, relatives, etc with computers...
that could be utilized if a person does not have their own resources. The date &
time that the Trek book information would come on-line would be published
well in advance. With maybe a back-up date in case Philmont needs more time for
some reason. (I'm thinking Saturday at 5 PM West Coast time for the day &
time -to give all of us a full day of pouring over our books B4 we all send out
our Fed Ex Over-nite mail envelopes on Monday morning to Philmont).
Also - there could be an alternative option for those who still desire /
require to get a Treks book via UPS. They simply request one and Philmont UPS's
one out - maybe at a nominal fee of say $ 20.00 -to cover printing &
shipping. We want to save money & speed up the process. Not have Philmont be doing
double work. With color printers - the treks book turns into a nice keepsake &
record of your trip.
Our Council Contingent "PACKAGE" containing 5 Crew packets weighed 13 LBS
and arrived on Monday. I called a meeting that night for 5 crews and scurried
to O'Hare by 10 PM to get my Fed Ex letter off to Philmont. Many Advisors had
to adjust their schedules / miss Scout meetings that night.
On a related topic: Our Council Contingent (NWSC - Chicago area) arrives on
710 and has a couple of openings in 5 different crews doing Typical to
Strenuous treks. I'd like to fill them up. I have a recruitment Flyer for our
Contingent Trip that I can E-mail you.
