Re: [Philmont]: Crew gear suggestions

There are two schools of thought on equipment. You heard David's side. The other side is to bring all your own. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, it is the same equipment that you have trained with back home. You already know how to work your stoves and set up your tents. You know how your own equipment gets packed up with personal gear. The second reason is that it saves a bunch of time picking up your equipment and even more importantly, when you turn equipment in when you come off the trail. The equipment pickup and turnin can be pretty lengthly, especially if you have a couple of crews ahead of you in line. The only items our crews check out at Philmont are the bear bag ropes and the clean up kit. Just a thought...

I would use the Philmont gear. We did and the crew did great.

Given a crew with limited funds, what would be your suggestions for
replacing Philmont supplied crew gear with our own gear in the most
dollar
per pound efficient manner? Thanks for your help.
