Polar Pure - we filtered first, then used polar pure. I thought I'd hate
the taste, but got used to it right away. To me, it tasted like water that
had been sitting in a plastic bottle for a day or two, and was no big deal.

Tenting - do what works for your crew, with the minimum number of tents
possible. My husband and sons never tented together, and when I went it was
logical for me to tent with the other woman on the crew, even though my
husband was on the trek as well. it minimized the number of tents needed.
We had three scouts in one tent, and a single 18 y/o in another as the
other adults were two women and two men. Even though the 18 y/o was counted
as a youth by Philmont standards, he was too old to tent with the other
scouts. You can tent with your son if you and he both want to, but he may
prefer to tent with a buddy. Do what works for your whole crew depending on
numbers and relationships, and have a few shakedown trips to figure out
what that is......

Dried food - you can boil water and mix individually, you can put it all
together (except mashed potatoes or desserts), or you can use turkey bags.
We used turkey bags for the main course and did potatoes and desserts
separately.

Have fun!

These have probably been addressed before but:

polor pure-can you use the tablets that get rid of the taste? Should you
bring the 2 tablet iodine system?
Do crews always pair up 2 men to a tent? DO some adults pair up with their
sons? Do adults usually tent by themselves? What is recommended?
Explain Philmont's idea of One Pot cooking method where the freezed dried
food is involved? Do you boil the water and mix individually or mixed it
all in one pot?
