WE made the treking poles as LONG as possible to support the tarp.

One at each corner, 2 at the peaks on the ends, and 2 more to support the
middle of the long sides.

The dinning fly is usually low to the ground when you use only 2 treking
poles for the peaks. You have crawl in, and sit on the ground.

With the taller treking poles, the fly is much higher off the ground.
scouts were able to sit on cut logs "stools" and played card games for hours
in the rain.

Hope this helps you picture what I mean.
