My input on "non-crew" parent involvement in the planning part--they obviously had enough trust in the troop and its crew advisors to allow the scout to be part of the crew, they need to "butt out" and let the scouts plan their adventure. We had meetings planned specifically for the parents from time to time in order to keep them in the loop, but also requested "crew only" meetings for most of the planning and organizing stuff. As you and I have heard, there are no "bad" treks, just some that tend to be suited for some better than others. The trek descriptions will help guide them through the planning process. It's a learning and growing experience. for them. Let them do it.
