I've been monitoring two local websites in the area:
The Albuquerque Tribune: http://www.abqtrib.com
and Channel 7 news: http://www.thenewmexicochannel.com
both are posting updated material on the fire.

Just spoke to a friend at Philmont presently. Here is some news about the
  fire.

Fire crews have set up Incident Command at Philmont's headquarters. It is
up to 16,000 acres, and the winds are atrocious. That area is at 10% of
normal for precipitation for this time of year. It is burning on the East
side of Highway 21, but has jumped the road at some points. Philmont
Camping Headquarters isn't threatened as of yet, but it appears to be
  getting close.
Luckily, all firefighters available in that part of the state are
responding. Let's just hope for the winds to abate so that the fire lines
  work.
If anyone hears anymore, let us know.
