Mollie has been on a Cavalcade while I haven't. Maybe I'm getting the
reports from our 2003 Cavalcade mixed up with those from our 2005
backpacking crews but I thought I remembered some our our Cavalcade guys
saying they used the bladders. But not having straps on your back while
riding a horse makes sense. Of course, not getting on a horse in the
first place makes sense to me. :-)
I would take a rain jacket of some type though as you'll be spending time
at CHQ and at Cattle HQ before and after your trek. If your wrangler
doesn't feel the jackets are need on the trek, you can store them in your
locker or in the vehicles.
BTW, our 2003 crews (one from our troop and another from our crew)
traveled by motorcoach so everything they didn't take on the trail went in
the CHQ lockers or stayed in an unsecured closet at Cattle HQ.
