Russell,
You pick up 3 to 4 days worth of food and carry it. The Crew leader should
split it up between the group. They come bagged up each meal to 2 persons. So
4 days times 3 meals times woul be 6 bags each. As far as cooking the meals-
You are given a few large pots per crew to carry. As I remember we only
"cooked" 1-meal a day. We did the 1-pot method where everything goes into
one pot and is cooked. (YUM) (mashed potatoes mixed with everything). Since
then and included in these posts are methods of Turkey bag cooking where you
can cook your meal seperatly and save on clean up- though you have to pack
everything out as far as your trash goes.
Hope this helps- remember You carry everything in and out that you need on
your trek.

Perhaps someone can clear up some things for me concerning the way the
trek books display meal pickups. On a given trek it may show a single
commissary in the food pickup column for 3 or 4 days in a row. Does this
mean you pick up that many days food at the beginning of that leg and carry
it the whole time, or do you pickup one day at a time from that commissary
on each of the days of that leg?
