RE: [Philmont]: Water Filters/Purifiers

Philmont quit using iodine last year. There have always been issues of
iodine with growing youth. Philmont is now using Katadyn MP1 tablets.

I have been on 5 Philmont treks and have found that the tablets, or iodine
bottles, work just fine. You just have to allow time for them to do their
work. The nice thing about the filters is that you can drink/use the water
right away. I have only used the filters on one Philmont trip.
