I was on summer camp staff around that time as assistant program director.
Not only were the shorts *very* short (think two-inch inseams), but the more
style-conscious staff members liked to roll them up to make them even
shorter. My Scouts never believe it when I tell that story.

I had almost forgotten about those terrible old "Daisy Duke" Boy Scout
shorts. Makes me laugh when I hear people complain about today's uniforms.
I'll take them any day over the Daisy Dukes or Howard Johnson shorts of
yesterday. :>)
