Greetings Uncle Cletus and the rest,
Others have mentioned Superfeet and I will have to chime in "me too".
About five or six years ago, I was having problems with what I thought
might be a heel spur. I happened to mention it when I was trying on
trail shoes and the sales person said it might be something else (I
forget - plantar faciaitis <sp>, strained arches, etc.) and recommended
Superfeet. I had been using Sorbothane insoles and the comment was made
that the cushiony insoles - like gels - don't really provide much in the
way of support. And if you have weak arches or other foot problems,
they may not help.
Anyway, I purchased a pair and wore them for about two months, and by
golly, the problems went away and haven't come back. (knock wood). Now
I have Superfeet insoles in ALL of my recreational shoes except my Crocs
and sandals. I can't figure out how to keep them in my sandals, and my
Crocs have an insole that is just about as good. I recently purchased
a new pair of boots, and one of the fitting tests was how they feel with
Superfeet in them.
They are a little more expensive than other insoles, but my feet would
say they are definitely worth it.
Happy Trails,
Roy Fisher
