We did just that on our practice hikes and while at Philmont. We told
our ranger that we wanted to let each scout get as much experience as
possible, and he agreed to let us rotate the positions each day. (Who
is leading the crew, carrying the map, pacesetter, etc). Of course,
whenever the crew leader was needed for entering camp, our official
crewleader had to be the one to do so, you can't change that position.
