Bill Sheehan writes...

I am pleased that my little essay about the virtues of the South County
provoked an equally impassioned description of the beauties of the North.

As a result of the thoughtfulness that went into the North Country reply, I
may schedule Baldy into one of my Autumn itineraries sooner rather than
later.

Comment...

I'd highly recommend it. And the route we did in 2004. The vistas with the
aspens a brilliant gold were absolutely stunning. I shot three rolls of
film the just morning approaching Baldy Town... After shooting a couple the
day before on Wilson Mesa...

And if I had to choose, I too would be a South Country man.

Thanks for your off-list comments on Phillips and Autumn Adventure - my
trail planning subcommittee is meeting next week to start looking deeper
into our options, which is almost as much fun as actually hiking the trails.
With two crews this year, that also means looking at ways to do different
things and to meet up some or most nights, which is going to make things
more interesting than just getting from here to there.
