You will gets lots of different advice on prepping for dry camps. One thing
that you can do is cook the supper meal at lunch or at your last water
source before the dry camp. This way you get the most water consuming meal out of
the way. You can eat lunch for supper and eat breakfast when you get to
your next water source the following day. We always carry at least 3 individual
one-quart nalgene canteens per crew member. When we take treks that include
a dry camp, we take 4 one-quart canteens per crew member. This allows the
water load to be distributed among the entire crew. When you finish your
supper at the last water source, have every member of the crew "camel up" (drink
a quart of water) then fill all canteens. You should be able to make it to
your dry camp, have your lunch for supper and have enough water for the
following morning's walk to the next water source.

Dry camp training will be covered by your Ranger as part of his backcountry
skills training. You just need to make sure that each of the crew has enough
water carrying capability.
