There are not good calendar mods for the bulletin board, but I'll set up a
usable iCal calendar off of the forum home page in the near future.

One thing I like is the large number of subdivisions, which suggest topics
to post on. One thing which woud be useful to have would be a Philmont
calendar, or a link to the Philmont calendar.
The troop47 listserver could have topic suggestions as part of the standard
message, which could also suggest topics.
The bottom line is to provide a first time (and other time) crew with as
much helpful information as possible.
One topic which would be useful to address would be conditioning required to
have a successful trek. This topic has been addressed to an extent but
stories from crews that have conditioned and then found what they did was
enough (or not enough) would be useful.
One post suggested Philmont has some characteristics of Disneyland, and this
is true to the extent there are program features. Unlike Disneyland,
Philmont is not flat!
So stories on conditioning and how crews met the challenge of Philmont are
very useful.
