Stuff from the shows.
Sorry for the delay in getting this information to you, but I did not see
anything at the summer show that jumped off the edge and then at the winter
shows all sorts of really great stuff showed up.
Axis Outdoors
They make the Orikaso plates, the flat plastic ones that fold together. The
new ones have Chess, Checkers and Backgammon boards on the bottom of them
and come with pieces to play the games. After licking the plates clean, you
can play games. Pretty Neat I thought.
Primus
Pots. I never thought I would go nuts over pots. Primus has a pot with a
ring that concentrates and does not lose the heat. I watched a pot of water
boil in less than a minute. At the same time I could put my hands on the
side of the pot because the heat was not going up the sides. There is a ring
at the bottom that concentrates the heat. The energy savings is unreal. I
can probably leave behind my old MSR heat transfers for the first time.
Stoves: Like the NOVA I have always recommended, the Primus stove has the
ability to drain the pressure so there is no fuel spray when you disconnect
the bottle.
Origo Watches
If you like the backpacking computers on your wrist, Origo has them for a
third of the price of the big guys.
Medi-Dyne
They have a blister product called skin on skin. It is pretty amazing
stuff. You will have to get some and try it to see how you can work with
it, but it basically puts a water barrier over the blister.
Pacific Outdoors: If you want an alternative which is a lot lighter than
thermarest check out the line of Pacific Outdoors. Besides I found out the
Sales Manager is an Eagle Scout.
I got to see the 51 tool Wenger Swiss Army Knife. Think 8" long 2x6 in your
pocket. No function but neat to see.
