[philmont] 2007 Treks Book

The Denver Area Council contingent got 4 of our 5 trek books yesterday,
mailed to our council office. I will be picking them up today and
distributing them to the lead advisors at a 13-mile pre-Philmont day hike
this Sunday. The last trek book was from a trek that got added late and
the payment is "lost in the mail" between council processing, mail time and
Philmont processing. We think we should have our 5th book soon though.

St Louis Council called the Advisor of each Crew in our contingents, and
those persons or designee picked up the books from the Council office
unless other arrangemernts were made. (They were mailed out to some folks
who couldn't get to the office). In the case of my crew, we met that night
to finalize our choices and dropped the card back in the mail same night.
Regular 1st class mail. We got our confirmation of 1st choice about a week
later or so.

I have another question along this line. I am advisor for a council crew,
we are in the process of prioritizing our top 3 choices (only 3 choices
based on the crew's activity preferences) so that when the card is in my
hands, the crew leader and I can fill it out and send it back. Granted, we
will have to decipher which 2007 itinerary matches our choice based on
2006 itineraries we picked from. Is there a standard way the books get
from Philmont to the advisors of council contingent crews? Will this come
directly to me or will it go to our council office and then I have to wait
to get it until the 'council mail system' gets it to me?? Just curious.

Our guys program preferences pointed us most closely to trek 4 or 12 and
then there were a few others that fit the bill too, 6 being the closest.

The package with the 2007 Treks book, etc. arrived today via UPS ground.
Included in the package is a new Overall Map of the Ranch.

 I checked Philmont's official web page <http://www.scouting.org/philmont>
to see if the itinerary info is there. According to the web page, the
official 2007 trek itinerary information will be posted on March 15, 2007.
