Our crew was planning on old trek 21 as their first choice which used to be 65 miles. With substantially no changes, it is now listed as trek 27 at 80 miles on page 77 of the 2007 treks book. The elevation / mileage chart on page 76 shows it as 70 miles.

Can anybody clue me in?

Comments...

It was exactly these sorts of issues that came out of the last renumbering of the treks in 2000 that eventually led me to look at the day by day miles for each trek. That led to the realization that in addition to out and out errors, the same sidehikes and food pickups were handled differently for different treks.

So I started reporting what I considered to be the "true" mileage for each, and apparently the 65 miles you cite is my number (which was 65.4) - 2006 Treks listed 21 as 64 miles, and the profile showed it as 61.5.

My guess is that 70 is closer to the truth than 80.

By the way, once Jim Thompson gets all the day by day routes mapped in his PhilSearch project, I plan on using that data in my chart. But in the case of 27, there is limited data and no real help in answering your question.
