There had been a Philmont operated shuttle bus that runs to the Kit
Carson Museum. You may want to confirm that they still intend to run
this shuttle. I believe we signed up for this in Hq.
In 2002, after completing itinerary 22 (coming from North Fork
Uracca) several crew members accompanied me to do the tour at the Kit
Carson museum. I can still remember falling asleep during the living
history presentation. I/we were able to say that we were there. We
even bought a couple souvenirs, but we were too wiped out from the
trek to gain much from the experience.
In 2004, on day 13, we had our charter bus take us to the Kit, before
hitting the highway. The adults probably got more out of the tour,
than the youth - YMMV.
For this summer, I will offer it to the youth as an option for the
day before we check in at the ranch.
