Clockwise goes through Aspen Springs and then up through the valley,
increasinly steep near the end, then breaking out to Window Rock, one of
the great views of Philmont. Counterclockwise goes up a series of
switchbacks, with Window rock about 30 seconds from the top of the last
switchback. I would guess that most people prefer clockwise.
