lol :-)
I think the packets of instant soup, hot chocolate and dried fruit
juice are a terrific idea. They are a very good way to get a
nutritious lift during a high altitude experience that is a very real
physical challenge.
Pay close attention during your trek to how much perspiration you
produce as well as how much fluid intake you get. It is a surprising
fact that even at rest you will perspire considerably. High altitude
hiking will require considerably more fluid intake than you may be
used to..
I hope everyone takes a digital camera to Philmont this season, takes
pictures that show the visual highlights of their trek, and then sends
those pictures along for inclusion of the Philsearch project. This
great project has helped boys "Be Prepared" for Philmont, is helping
many "see" parts of Philmont they didn't get to and is helping many
relive their Philmont experience.

(who remembers how really good a nutritious drink on the trail tasted,
especially after a hot day on the trail. The ice cold root beer at
Abreu was terrific :-) )
